MOVING FOR OSLO
The Norwegian capital can boast a highly rapid and efficient transport system. Thanks to the numerous buses, trams, trains and boats, getting around Oslo is really easy. Moreover, all the means are managed by a single company, the Norwegian Ruter.
The metro, known as T-bane, represents the most used means of transport in the Norwegian capital. Six lines, 95 stations and a total of 80 kilometers: these are the numbers of the first underground subway in Northern Europe. Each line is identified by a progressive number from 1 to 6, and a different color. All lines are also connected to Oslo Central Station.

The network connects in a capillary way the whole center and the peripheral areas. Outside, the meter is identified by a sign with a white and blue logo, and a "T" inside a circle.
The metro runs daily from Monday to Sunday from 05: 30 until midnight. Some lines are running from the 06: 00 in the morning. The frequency is about 10 minutes during the day; after the 21: 00, the trains circulate every 30 'around.
Trams are a valid alternative to the metro. In the city, 6 tram lines are operating which cover most of the city. Each line is identified by a different number and color. Some lines, although with identical terminus, carry out different routes.

All tram lines are operated by 05: 00 in the morning until midnight, with some lines running fimo at 01: 00. The frequency is 10 minutes during the day, and 20 'during the night and early in the morning. Jernbanetorget is the main tram station, as well as interchange with the T-bane; here, moreover, 4 tram lines intersect.
The road line is rather efficient. Like trams, buses run from 05: 00 in the morning until midnight. From the center to the outskirts, all areas are covered in an almost capillary fashion: center, north, south, west and Groruddalen Area. Furthermore, i Nattbuss Oslo, buses are active at night. The nights between Friday-Saturday and Saturday-Sunday, special bus and tram rides are active from midnight until 05: 00 in the morning.
There is nothing more suggestive than a fantastic boat ride on the Oslo fjord. A truly unique and suggestive way to move around Oslo.
Ferries depart from the Radhusbrygge 3 quay, in front of the Town Hall; here, there is the interchange with the 12 Tram Line, and numerous bus lines (30,31,32 and many others).
NSB trains cover some areas of the capital, and are still an alternative for moving around Oslo. The same metro ticket can be used to travel. Sentralstasjon Oslo, is the main station, connected to the Jernbanetorget underground station via a direct connection.

The efficiency of the transport network has only one downside: the cost of tickets. Getting around Oslo by public transport can be quite expensive. Precisely for this reason, try to understand exactly what your needs are. A single-ride ticket can cost over € 4 at our exchange rate.
Another important note: avoid buying a ticket on board the bus. You pay, in fact, a surcharge of well 18NOK (about 1,50 €). On the metro and tram, the tickets BUY EXCLUSIVELY before boarding.

The ticket from single travel costs 32NOK for the 1 Zone; 52NOK 2 Zone; 72NOK for 3 Zone; 92 NOK 4 Zone; 118NOK for all zones. With this ticket you can only make one trip lasting for 60 minutes. The duration is increased by 30 minutes for each additional zone (2 zone is 90 minutes, 3 120 zone is so on).
Il daily ticket from 24 hours costs 90NOK for a single Zone, 140NOK for two zones and 190 for all zones; in the latter case, it is valid on all vehicles circulating in Oslo and Akershus. The ticket is valid for 24 hours from the time of validation and is not personal. This means that you can transfer it to another if you do not use it for a certain time.
Il weekly ticket costs 240NOK for a single Zone, 440NOK for two zones and 660NOK for all zones; in the latter case, it is valid on all vehicles circulating in Oslo and Akershus. The ticket is valid for 7 days from the time of validation and is not personal. This means that you can transfer it to another if you do not use it for a certain time
Children up to 15 years and over 67 are always entitled to REDUCED RATE. The price is always halved.
Ruter As is the company that manages public transport in Oslo and Akershus. All public transport is part of the single integrated system which provides for the same tariff.
Tickets can be purchased from authorized dealers (points and kiosks) and vending machines at all metro stations, and at major bus and tram stations and interchanges.
The most convenient method, however, is with the mobile app "RuterBillett". This is an app available on the iOS, Android and Microsoft platforms, with which to buy a single ticket, a daily ticket and subscriptions from 7 or 30 days. Operation is really simple and intuitive. Once the application is downloaded and installed on your device, you select the ticket and proceed to payment (Visa, MasterCard ...). In short, a countdown will appear on the device and the message "Confirmed - Boarding permitted"; at this point, you can start your journey.
