Viktualienmarkt - Munich's famous food market - represents one of the stages not to be missed during a trip to Munich. One of the city's most permanent outdoor markets, located in the heart of Munich. It is located a few steps from St Peter Kirche and Marienplatz, the place where it was originally born, about two centuries ago.

An authentic triumph of colors, smells and tastes, with lots of kiosks and stalls. An incredibly lively, cheerful, colorful market, dominated by buildings and places full of history.

The market is spread over an area of ​​approximately 19000 m², with more than 110 family-run stands. You will find many products of the Bavarian gastronomic tradition, many of which are exhibited to perfection! In this place, you will really find everything. Quantity and, at the same time, quantity.

Despite being frequented by the Bavarians, it is a very touristic place, with prices slightly above average. It is however worth spending some time there; maybe, to stop for a quick meal before returning to the hotel.

HOW TO GET

Just a few steps from the central Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt is located right in the center, easily accessible on foot, a few minutes walk from Peterskirche, Rindermarkt, Ruffinihouse. At the stop of the same name, the 52, 62 and 132 lines of the bus. Alternatively, with i tram 16, 17, 19, N17 and N19, get off at the Reichenbachtplatz stop, just a few minutes walk from the market.

TIMETABLES

The market is open Monday to Friday, from 07: 00 to 18: 00, and Saturday from 07: 00 to 16: 00. The closing times, however, vary according to the type of product. Several stalls, in fact, remain open until the 20: 00. The market is always CLOSED on Sundays and public holidays.



WHAT TO BUY

Tropical fruit, meat, game, poultry, cheese, fish, bread and pastries, spices, flowers ... and much more. Nowhere else in the city, you will find a selection of fresh and specialty foods, so extraordinary. Seeing is believing
