Madeira Airport is the international airport located on the Portuguese island of Madeira, about 13 km from the capital Funchal. From the 2016, after the Portuguese triumph to the European Football Championships, the airport was named after the famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, a native of Madeira.

For a long time, the airport has been labeled one of the most dangerous in the world. The reason is due to the position: perched on high cliffs, and surrounded by mountains. The situation has greatly improved in the 2002, after the construction of an impressive reinforced concrete platform, supported by 180 high pillars about 70 m. In this way, the track has been lengthened by the initial 1600m, to the current 2700 meters.

Outside the Arrivals terminal, a convenient shuttle / shuttle (Airbus) allows you to reach Funchal and the main accommodation facilities in the city. The bus finishes the ride to the famous Praia Beach. The Airbus also waits up to an hour in case of delay of your flight!
