All about Barcolana 2018, from 05 to 14 October in the Gulf of Trieste

The biggest Regatta in the world!
It reaches its 50a edition, the Barcolana, a historic sailing regatta that takes place in Italy in the Gulf of Trieste.
An extraordinary event that involves over 20000 sailors, and more than 200 thousand spectators.

Arranged in a truly incredible scenery, you can admire the Barcolana from the shores of Trieste, or from the heights, in what can be considered a natural stadium.

To make the event special, the incredible number of participants who, today, touches 2100 share of boats. No regatta in the world, boasts similar numbers. Side by side, professionals, enthusiasts or simple curious compete; they are divided according to the length of the boat, and arranged on a single starting line.
All in search of the famous Barcolana Cup, the trophy awarded to the winner of the general classification.

There will be other trophies and cups for the winners of individual categories, best skippers, ship owners, fair play ...
And there will also be space for activities and collateral events, with a busy schedule of music and concerts, nightly shows, windsurfing and kitesurfing shows.

Trieste can be reached by air, calling at Venezia Marco Polo. The airport is well connected, with direct flights, with the main European and extra-European destinations.
Just landed, you can reach Trieste comfortably by car, through the A4. Directly at the airport, you will find numerous agencies to rent a car.

Alternatively, those wishing to use the means must reach the central station of Venezia Mestre and, from here, take the train to Trieste.
The central station is located in the center, less than 10 minutes walk from the Red Bridge and Piazza Unità d'Italia.


There are many events that will thrill sailors and visitors. The highlight, of course, will be Sunday 14 October with B50, the Historical Regatta in the Gulf of Trieste, from the 10: 30.
Here are some events not to be missed during the festival.

The 10 and 11 October, at Harry's Piccolo & Bistrò, at Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, challenge at sea, and showcooking between chefs. Nine Ambassador chefs will offer as many tasting dishes for a truly unique event. From the 19: 30 to the 21: 30.
Saturday 13, at the Molo Audace - San Giusto Basin, there will be the historic "by night" Regatta, starting from around 19. An evening show, along the piers, absolutely unmissable.

The availability in the center, on the occasion of the second weekend of October, is really limited, due to the considerable demand. It is advisable to book well in advance.
