Ballesteros Santander is an international airport, located near the city of Santander. It is the only airport of all Cantabria, with a respectable passenger traffic; although, in recent years, there has been a decline. The airport is named after the famous local golfer, who died in the 2011. At the airport there is a duty-free service, and some food and beverage outlets.

A shuttle connects each 30 minutes to the airport with the bus station Santander, in the center. The total journey is around 5 kilometers. The service is active from 07: 00 to 23: 00, with first run to 06: 40. More info on the official website, through this link.

The Spanish ALSA, on the other hand, makes bus connections to many Iberian destinations, particularly the North. Bilbao, Burgos, Gijón, Oviedo, are just some of the cities with which the connection with Ballesteros Santander is guaranteed.

For Bilbao, it takes an hour by direct bus. The ticket costs 12 € approximately. Alternatively, you can save money by bus which stops at Laredo and Castro Urdiales; in this case, the trip takes about 20 more minutes, but the ticket costs just 6,43 €!
